Not Sure How I Feel About This...

I just discovered my all-time favorite trilogy is now going to be a TV series on the CW.

The Initiation (The Secret Circle, Vol. 1) (No. 1)The Captive (The Secret Circle #2)SECRET CIRCLE V III POWER MM

I first read these books in the early 90s - when I was ending junior high and beginning high school. They have always remained my favorites. I have probably read them at least 10 times. I know them by heart.

Here is my post, where I took pics of my originals.

When I was younger - I wanted to be Cassie. We had so much in common. Same hair, same eyes, we were both Cancers, we both moved in high school to a new place. Both shy at first, but get us out of our shell and woo!
(Yes, overrealate much? LOL)

Anyway, I'm scared. I didn't much like what they did the the storyline of the Vampire Diaries, and just by watching the 30 second trailer, they have changed the story of these books, too. Yet, I'm strangely excited, too.

You can check them out on Facebook, too.

Yikes! Read-a-thon!

I am so embarrassed! I completely forgot that I had signed up to participate in a read-a-thon! Life has been uber-crazy lately. I still have time, though, so it's all good. :)

Read-a-thon goals:
Read at least 3 books
Get caught up on some series.
Read, or make a dent in, at least 1 review book.

Books I plan to read:
Stray - Rachel Vincent
Infinite Betrayal - Gayle Donnelly & Robyn Mackenzie (Review book)
A Warrior's Witch - Stacey Kennedy (Review book)

I work the rest of the week, so I'm not sure how much I'll be able to read - but I'll work on it today. The problem with my plans of what books to read, sometimes I'll just pick up some other book instead. :)

8/22
I did finish a review book - Heart of War by LB Darling.
Not sure if it counts if you'd already started it. But I read over 100 pages.

8/23
Nothing. :( Wasted a whole day because I forgot.

8/24
The day has just begun!

Review - The Anointed: Demon Trackers Book One by CC James

Demon Trackers: The Anointed (Demon Trackers #1)Demon Trackers: The Anointed by CC James

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Demon trackers - I was intrigued and kind of excited. This is a solid first book to a new series. I thought it was on the short side, however, as it seemed to only cover one major event. The action was written in great detail and a few hours time took almost the entire book.

I liked the relationship between Jake and Cal, and then with their father. It was nice to see the men being caring toward each other and worrying and protecting each other - though one or the other was in so much peril at some point - it got a little on the tiresome side to constantly be worrying someone was going to become gremlin food.

There seems to be a lot of backstory that is not yet revealed to the reader and I suppose I will have to continue in the series to find the answers to questions I have about the boys’ past.

This book was well-written, good details, good character development, and I became engaged in the story.

One thing I did not really like was how young the boys are - Cal is 16 and Jake is 19, and they are half-human and fighting horrible demons. I don’t know why their ages bothered me - Jake not so much, but it bothered me that Cal was so young…  Again, I’m not sure why - it just did.

Overall, I enjoyed this story - it is action-packed with lots of demon-butt-kicking. There is zero romance, but from the excerpt of the next book, there might be some on the horizon. I give the story 3.5 stars - I liked it, but I didn’t love it. I would recommend it to anyone who like urban fantasy - lots of action, little romance. Thank you to author, CC James, for the chance to read and review this book. I will be checking out book two when that comes out.
